FAQ
Ingredients
Do the products contain perfume, fragrance oil or essential oil?
In Laveos products you will not find any synthetic perfume or fragrance oil. The products contain only active qualitative ingredients from nature. Each ingredient has a reason to earn a place on the ingredients list, no unnecessary 'fillers' are used. Essential oils are added for fragrance and other benefits.
Do the products contain palm oil?
No. The production of palm oil is harmful to the environment and causes deforestation, which is why we do not use palm oil. All our ingredients are carefully selected, taking sustainability into account.
What are the shampoo bars made of?
The base of all our shampoo bars consists of olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter and castor oil. This combination ensures a mild, yet cleansing shampoo bar.
The composition is different per bar. So they not only smell different but each recipe is individually formulated to best suit your dog or horse. Therefore, read the description on the product page carefully to choose the most suitable shampoo bar.
What is 'super cool' and what does it mean?
When making shampoo bars it is all about the ratio of lye to oils . Each type of oil needs a specific amount of lye to be converted into 100% soap. This way there would be no oil left in the final product, which makes the bar especially powerful cleaning. To make a milder, richer bar with caring quality we make sure to add more botanical oil. This extra fat or oil is called super fat.
How is it made?
Are the products handmade?
Yes!
Where are the products made?
In 2013 Laveos was born in the kitchen! However, we now have a small but professional soap studio at home, which meets the guidelines of cosmetics for humans. We approach the making of care products for dogs and horses with the same precision.
What process is used to make the shampoo bars?
We use the 'cold process' method. This means that the ingredients are mixed at a temperature that is slightly higher than room temperature. In this way, we not only make more sustainable soap, we also ensure that fewer qualities of the beautiful ingredients are lost.
Tell me more!
After the ingredients have reached the right temperature, the soap is mixed and poured into molds. After about 24 to 48 hours, it is time to remove the soaps from the mold. After we cut the soap into bars, they need to mature for another six weeks. During these six weeks, the bars become softer and harder because the excess water evaporates.
Are the products vegan?
The shampoo bars Soft & Shiny and Anti Itch & inflammation are vegan . The Sensitive Care bar is not vegan and contains honey.
Usage
My dog/horse has sensitive skin, can I use the shampoo bars?
The bars are suitable for sensitive skin, however, every situation is different and an animal can also react allergically to natural products. In case of sensitivity, we advise washing a small area and waiting 48 hours to see if there is no reaction before washing the entire body. In case of a reaction, discontinue use.
How often can I wash my horse or dog with this?
We recommend that dogs and horses are only washed when necessary, so that the skin's own oils can keep the coat in optimum condition. You will often notice best when rinsing is not enough, he/she has rolled in something dirty or when the coat could use a freshening up.
What is the best way to store the bar?
Make sure the bar can dry well in between and that it does not remain in water. For example, hang it to dry on the handy rope.
